Eva Andersson: Vad menas med att man "lämnar öppet i kilen"? Betyder det att man har en kil mellan de två framstyckena på vars sidor man lämnar öppet i två små springor?

Och när man klipper kilar på mitten av styckena, klipper man dem lodräta eller en aning sneda (så att man kommer åt lättare med händerna)?

Är det någon som sett exempel på att man dekorerat slitsarna på utsidan på något sätt? T.ex med band eller broderier.

Tittar man lite snabbt på [url="http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-carlson/cloth/herjback.html"]Herjolfnesdräkterna[/url] så verkar nr 38 & 42 ha slitsar i tyget medans 43 & 45 här slitsarna i sömmar. Utförligare information finns säkert i Else Østergårds nya bok.
