Are there any artifacts around that anyone knows about of pottery bowl finds which can be shown to have been used as lamps, or any pottery specifically made to be a lamp?

Hej Kalle

I don’t know if I follow you here, but you're asking for ceramic oil lamps - right?
There are a couple of them from the earlier cultural deposits from Lund (southernmost Sweden).
I'll see if I can get you a scan of them when I get back to Stockholm - mail me if you haven't heard from me by the middle of the week, just in case I forget about it.

I should have said, pottery lamps in Viking era finds. I guess the forum covers a much wider area of history than that.

Some 11th and 12th century oil lamps from Lund (Kulturen 1983, Lund):

Raymund, thanks! I've seen images of Anglo/Saxon finds from the same period that were very similar, but from Lund, that's great! Thanks! What is the source of that image, if I may ask?

It's from the Kulturen yearbook from 1983, IIRC it doesn't have a ISBN, but the series has an ISSN which is 0454-5915.

Raymund, thanks very much! I'll use that to build up a citation reference. Much appreciated.
