Personligen vet jag inte om jag skulle vilja ha medeltidsdräkt på vanliga kalas, jag har haft det på en del medeltidsdisputationer men inte annars. Medeltidsdräkt är inte högtidsdräkt på samma sätt för mig, medan bygdedräkten motsvarar när min man tar på sig den mörka kostymen med väst och allt (något som inte händer jätteofta, typ bara på bröllop och begravningar).

Det är en rekonstruerad dräkt och processen för dess tillkomst, som jag berör lite, är ett bra exempel på hur det ofta går till när man tar fram en rekonstruerad bygdedräkt.

Därav frågan till er andra....

Hur frågan dök upp beror på att i somras så var det en finsk danstillställning här i stan. Temat för den var ett medeltida bröllop, så alla gäster hade tidsenliga kläder. Men en av gästerna hade en finsk vikingaklänning/dräkt med spännbuckor och allt. Detta såg "mitt" brudpar och några till och därav frågan till mig om klädesval.

Men det blir nog till att jag väljer något annat till bröllopet.

Att ta resonemanget "plagg A är en föregångare till B, därför är det OK" tycker jag känns som att bita sig rejält i tummen. Var ska man dra gränsen för föregångare? Är björn eller annat skinn OK? <i>Här är det dock min gamla aversion till resonemanget inom matlagning, att "de hade ingredienserna till X så det är helt OK att servera det", även om resultatet blir en högst modern Whopper; som kommer till ytan.</i>

Menar då att en del tycker att vikingakläder har man bara på sig när man "är viking" och folkdräkt hör till vanligt folk och används till "fint".
Jag vet att många anser att man klär ut sig när man har sina vikingakläder på sig. Men om man nu tänker till lite så är det ju så att vikingaklänningen är en "förfäder" till de senare folkdräkterna. Eller är jag helt ute och cyklar?
Att frågan dök upp beror på att jag blivit bjuden på ett bröllop där klädseln kan vara folkdräkt. Och eftersom det är flera gäster och även brudparet, som vet om att jag har min vikingaklänning, då frågade om jag ska ha den.
