De skarvar jag har hittat i den s.k. Drottning Margaretas gyllene kjortel är enbart för att tyget inte var tillräckligt brett. På längden verkar de inte ha skarvat något.

I övrigt tycker jag att skarvar är coolt och ger karaktär åt ett plagg, men jag skulle bara skarva av två anledningar. 1. Jag vill göra en rekonstruktion som är så lik orginalet som möjligt. Då sätter jag också dit lagningar och annat som fanns på originalet. 2. (Vanligare) Jag inser när jag klipper till mitt plagg att en skarv skulle spara massa material. Då tittar jag på hur t.ex. de grönländska kjortlarna är skarvade och försöker göra något liknande.

En återkommande spännande materialskarv är en längsgående skarv på framsidan av vänsterärmen. Har sett det här lite var stans på folkliga plagg. Om jag inte missminner mig så har bockstensmannen också en dylik skarv på sin kjortel. Jag antar att det är en materialskarv men varför verkar den genomgående hamna på vänster sida?

Jag funderar dock lite över skravsömmar, hur gjordes det? Lade man tyget överlappande någon centimeter eller rätsida mot rätsida och "vändsydde" eller på något annat fiffigt sätt?
Har man små bitar vill man ju inte slösa bort allt för mycket på sömsmån. Är det någon som har några tips?
