Jag har fortfarande inte hittat belägg för genomgående knälånga kjortlar (dvs. där man ser hosorna under), men jag har sett en manuskriptbild från 900-1000 (ungefär...) där en kvinna har en knälång överkjortel med dekorationsband längs kanterna och lodrätt mitt fram. Jag tror att bilden fanns antingen i Davenports "The book of Costume" eller Paynes "History of Costume", men jag har tyvärr ingen av böckerna hemma så jag kan inte kolla upp det.

Dessutom finns det bilder på bysantinska danserskor från 500-600-tal som har lårkorta överkjortlar ovanpå sina långa klänningar (men det kanske inte var en "anständig" klädsel eftersom det bara är dansande kvinnor som har dem?). Det ska finnas en bild på detta i Bouchers "A History of Costume in the West".

Några senare belägg har jag inte sett.

men den handlar mest om 1400-tal och då kan vi nog sluta oss till att knälånga kjortlar inte bars av kvinnor. Inom <i>återskaparkretser</i> av olika slag kan man ibland se kvinnor i knälånga kjortlar som sägs föreställa anglo-saxiskt/normanskt dräktskick, men personligen är jag inte säker på att det finns några historiska källor för det (finns det - snälla överbevisa mig!!!).

Av någon anledning verkar dessa kläder bara dyka upp i sådan böcker som inte anses helt tillförlitliga. Om någon skulle hitta en samtida bild eller liknande så skulle jag vara mycket intreserad.
Vad vill jag säga med detta svamlande då?
Jo, åtminstonde under 1100-talets frankrike/england verkar det vara väldigt osäkra källor på att det skulle ha funnits kjortlar i dessa längder. Jag har för mig att jag hört något om att det funnits tidigare. Senare har jag aldig sett några, men jag har långt ifrån full koll.
