S.k. ståndskistor är ju kanske en möjlighet om du inte vill använda Mästermyrsvarianten. Emellertid så anses, mig veterligen, den äldsta bevarade ståndskistan (Från Änga) vara ifrån början av 1100-talet, men skiftesverkstekniken (som ju ståndskistorna omfattar) har vi ju spår av i brunnsfodringar från yngre romersk järnålder. Och nej, jag tror att våra förfäder säkerligen inte bara sade "nej, det där är ju inte nordiskt!", de tog nog upp både influenser här och där. Men vi har ingen aning om vad som skedde och inte skedde. De flesta är nog ganska överens om att i första hand gå med strömmen för att visa regeln och inte undantaget.

Absolut, det kan ju vara så att att personen använde sin fantasi, men då kommer man till problemet att folk redan då lär ha undrat vad som var på gång... Det man avbildar tenderar ju att vara någotsånär realistiskt. En källa är enligt min åsikt bättre än ingen. Men det beror ju också på hur mycket man väljer att tro på källorna. Jag skulle inte kritisera nån som kom med ett sådant vapen... som sagt. ibland överträffar verkligheten dikten.
