Det er afrikanske stoler som noen sikkert syns var veldig praktiske, og så har de bredt om seg.

Om det är den typen av stolar jag tror så har jag sett bilder på en tidigmedeltida sådan som vikingaföreningen jag är med i har gjort kopior på. Många säger att de sett liknande i syd-afrika, och det är väl mycket möjligt att det varit en mycket utsprid model av stol i världen.

En s.k. "strandstol" finns på Regionmuseet i Kristianstad, på avdelningen där de har lite saker med kyrklig anknytning! Där stod det att det är en medeltida stol.

För den som inte vet så hade/har Priest-Dorman (eller Thora Sharptooth som SCAiterna kallar henne) ett slags halvgudinnestatus inom Amerikanska SCA-vikingakretsar - regeln är att om Thora har det så finns det åtminstonne 3 referenser i facklitteraturen och man kan tryggt apa efter det...

Vad jag kan komma ihåg så brukar amerikanerna skylla dessa "strandstolar" på ACW-re-enactors: de skall helt enkelt ha "hoppat" mellan två olika typer av historiskt återskapande via folk som ägnar sig åt båda sorterna - likt ett virus. Andra åter skyller dem på Scouterna...

Stolarna anvandes pa ett SCA lager (?) av en kvinna som anvande dem att sitta pa nar hon vavde. Jag vet inte om hon var vikingakladd eller inte, men aven om kvinnan sjalv var medveten om att det var en modern mobel, sa spred det sig att det var en vikingastol.

[min gissning: ] Och eftersom det var en enkel och hopfallbar stol (med ryggstod!), sa ville manga ha den, speciellt nu nar de "visste" att den var autentisk.
